First Team Squash - Wed 8th January
Dear member,
The men's squash first team kick off 2025 with a home fixture this Wednesday at 7:30pm against high flying Horley Squash Club.
Horley are currently 8 points clear at the top of the Surrey Cup & will bring a very strong team as they aim to win the title this year.
Current world no.35 Curtis Malik is now mixing it with some of the best players in the world as shown during his recent outings for the England men's team at the World Team Championships, where he almost took out a top 10 ranked player. Curtis will go up against WR&FC no.1 Olli Pett, who himself was in fine form in the first half of the season. This match will be very high world class quality!
The Horley no.2 player will be the 2023 World Junior U19 Champion Hamza Khan from Pakistan. Hamza will take on WR&FC youngster Ronnie Hickling who returns from injury following a lengthy layoff in the furst half of the season. It will be great to see how Ronnie can test himself against such a strong opponent.
Ben Coates, Phil Rushworth & Gabriel Chak will make up the rest of the WR&FC team this week against very tough opponents. They will be hoping to register some points on the board as the team hope to avoid getting dragged too close to relegation position in the second half of the season.
