Dear Badminton Players,
As you might have noticed, we have recently launched WR&FC branded badminton shuttles. For many years, the club has always sourced one of the best branded shuttles available on the UK market. We have used Snow Peak, Babolot, Yonex, etc. As many of you have experienced in the past, the reduced quality and increasing costs have made the club rethink and seek alternative shuttle solutions. We approached a few BWF approved shuttle manufacturers (https://corporate.bwfbadminton.com/events/approved-shuttles/) last November, and started the journey of creating WR&FC branded shuttlecocks. Below is the timeline. We shared this journey with you and hope you could feel confident and proud of playing with the club branded shuttle.

Q&A
Q: The shuttle is perceived fast.
A: We tested the shuttles in accordance with the Laws of Badminton (https://corporate.bwfbadminton.com/statutes/) in the club hall, they landed in between the speed testing lines and showed the correct speed. We will continue to monitor each batch. Please use the same testing method to verify your feelings and report back to the club if anything goes seriously wrong.
Q: Do all sessions use the same shuttle?
A: Yes, including Academy and Elite sessions. 5 Tubes of shuttle were tested in each session, below is the feedback collected in Feb from each session rep.
Q: What is the view of Elite players for the new shuttle? I still saw some elite sessions using Yonex AS40?
A: The view when Elite players tested the shuttle was very good and durable. The reason for A3 using AS40 is that Badminton England sponsored these shuttles for free as WR&FC is a southern hub. Also, there are some leftovers from the previous batch.
Q: How much does the club sell the shuttle per tube?
A: £24. We decided not to increase the price for a better quality shuttle so the members can also benefit from this.
Q: What is the cost of the shuttle per tube?
A: We are unable to disclose this information. The club had paid slightly less by sourcing from the original manufacturing plant instead of from UK merchants.
Q: How does it compare to the previous Yonex AS30 the sessions used?
A: Durability wise, our branded shuttle is noticeably better. Most of the shuttles lasted for the duration of one game.
Looking forward to your response.
Cheers,
WR&FC Badminton Committee
