Farewell Tournament for Phil Rushworth – September 6th

Dear Member,

As the new squash season approaches, we’re excited to announce a special tournament on Saturday, 6th September — not just any tournament, but a heartfelt farewell to our Head of Squash, Phil Rushworth , his leaving date is still to be confirmed but likely to be the end of September beginning of October.

After 21 years of dedicated service, Phil is moving on to lead the squash program at the Oakwood Club. His energy, passion, and commitment have been the driving force behind our club’s success, especially in the Surrey Cup. He’s inspired players of all levels and built a thriving squash community here at Wimbledon R&FC.

To honor Phil’s legacy, we invite you to join us for the Phil Rushworth Farewell Tournament . The format will be team-based, 10-minute non-stop squash matches, open to players of all standards and abilities. It’s a chance to celebrate Phil’s incredible impact and show our appreciation for everything he’s done.

We’re also in the process of finding a new Head of Squash — a tough act to follow, but thanks to Phil’s groundwork, they’ll inherit a strong program and a supportive membership.

Please RSVP on Mycourts under tournaments (Farewell Tournament for Phil Rushworth) by Monday 1st September. Let’s make this a memorable afternoon of squash, camaraderie, and celebration.

The timings on the day will include the squash tournament starting from 2pm and aiming to finish by 5pm. If you are not playing on the day please come down & join us from 5pm in the bar.

Looking forward to seeing you at the club.

John Sawyer
Squash Committee Chair
